Neodymium, Nd, is the name of element 60. It is a rare earth element (lanthanide) used in various electronic devices, Neodymium is an alloying element in Nd2Fe14B, a compound which produces the strongest magnetic field per unit mass of magnet. These "neodymium magnets" can lift over 1,000 times the magnet's own mass. It quickly tarnishes in air.

Neodymium is often said to have 5 stable isotopes and 2 long-lived radioactive isotopes. In fact, both "radioactive" isotopes have half-lives which are over 105 times the current age of the universe. They are radioactive in the sense that they emit particles - but nonradioactive when it comes to every other scientific/technological question pertaining to Nd. It has 7 effectively stable isotopes and a longest-lived radioactive isotope with a 1.73-hour half-life.
